Community Council structures vary by hall, but most offer a range of officer and representative positions so residents can serve in ways that match their interests and strengths. Titles and responsibilities may differ slightly by community and are subject to university and Department of Residence Life guidelines.

  • President: Leads the council by facilitating meetings, helping set goals and priorities, and coordinating the work of other officers. The President typically serves as a primary student point of contact for hall staff, RHA, and other campus partners.
  • Vice President of Finance: Helps manage the council’s budget in consultation with advisors and relevant university policies. This position typically tracks income and expenses, maintains financial records, and assists with funding requests for programs and initiatives.
  • Eco-Rep: Promotes sustainability efforts within the hall by supporting eco-friendly initiatives, sharing educational information, and encouraging residents to participate in waste reduction, energy conservation, and similar efforts in coordination with campus partners.
  • Chair of Programming: Plans, coordinates, and evaluates events that build community and engage residents. This role often collaborates with other officers and hall staff to develop a balanced calendar of social, educational, and tradition-based programs.
  • Chair of Marketing: Handles promotion and communication for the council, including creating flyers, digital content, and announcements. This position helps ensure residents receive clear, timely information about events, opportunities, and important updates.
  • Chair of Wellness: Advocates for resident well-being by supporting programs and initiatives related to mental health, physical health, and holistic wellness. This role may collaborate with campus resources to connect residents with supportive services and information.
  • Chair of Records: Documents council business by preparing meeting agendas, taking minutes, and maintaining organized records of decisions and initiatives. This position helps preserve continuity across semesters and supports effective communication within the council.
  • Chair of Service and Recognition: Organizes service projects and appreciation efforts that uplift the hall community and recognize positive contributions from residents, staff, and partners. This role often coordinates volunteer opportunities and recognition-based programs.
  • Chair of Hall Resources: Manages the inventory, check-out processes, and upkeep of hall-specific resources (such as equipment, decorations, or shared supplies), in alignment with hall and university guidelines. This position supports fair access and responsible use of community items.
  • Floor Rep / Building Rep: Serves as a communication link between the Community Council and a specific floor, wing, or building. Representatives share information from the council, gather feedback and ideas from residents, and help ensure that diverse voices are heard in council discussions.
