Community Councils
by Texas A&M RHA | Updated May 29 2025
Step into the heart of on-campus life—where leadership begins at your doorstep. Each Residence Hall and Apartment community at Texas A&M has its own Community Council, a student-led group dedicated to enhancing the living experience within that specific hall.
These councils are run by residents and advised by professional staff members in each building. Together, they plan social events, advocate for facility improvements, and bring hall-wide traditions to life. From ice cream socials to study nights, your Community Council makes campus feel like home.

Residents shaping their hall through Community Council initiatives
Your Community Council brings your hall to life through events, traditions, and initiatives created by students, for students. Your voice shapes what happens in your home.
Lead Where You Live
Want to make an impact just steps from your room? Community Councils are the perfect way to lead within your building, represent your peers, and bring meaningful change to where you live.
Grow as a Leader
Joining your Community Council offers hands-on experience in leadership, budgeting, event planning, and teamwork. These aren’t just meetings—they’re opportunities to learn, lead, and leave a legacy in your hall.
Your Voice Matters
Whether it’s suggesting facility upgrades or sharing student feedback, Community Councils are your platform to advocate for what residents need. Your ideas can shape policies, influence improvements, and build stronger communities.
Representation in RHA
Community Councils don’t just operate on their own—they’re directly connected to the Residential Housing Association (RHA). Council representatives attend RHA General Assembly meetings to vote on legislation, share updates, and connect their hall to the larger campus housing network.
Get Involved
Community Councils welcome all residents. Each fall, applications are held for officer roles like President and Vice President of Finance—and many other council positions like the Chair of Recongition & Service also create additional positions tailored to their hall’s needs.
No matter your major, year, or experience, there’s a place for you to contribute, connect, and grow. Leadership begins with showing up—and Community Council is your chance to do just that.
