What Are Community Councils
Community Councils are student-led organizations within each hall and apartment community. Guided by the hall Advisor, these councils empower residents to shape their living environment through events, advocacy, and leadership.
Community Councils are student-led organizations within each hall and apartment community at Texas A&M University. These councils serve as the foundation of residential leadership, bringing students together to enhance their living environment through events, advocacy, and collaboration.
Each council is guided by professional staff and composed of residents who plan social programs, address facility concerns, and foster hall-wide traditions. Whether it’s an ice cream social or a town hall meeting, Community Councils make campus feel like home.
Councils also connect directly to the Residential Housing Association (RHA), sending representatives to General Assembly meetings to vote on legislation, share updates, and link their hall to the broader campus housing network.
Leadership Opportunities
Residents can apply for officer roles such as President, Vice President of Finance, and other positions tailored to their hall’s needs. These roles offer hands-on experience in leadership, budgeting, event planning, and teamwork.
Advocacy and Impact
Community Councils provide a platform for residents to voice concerns, suggest improvements, and influence policies that affect their daily lives. Your ideas can shape your hall and contribute to a stronger campus community.
Get Involved
All residents are welcome to participate. No matter your major, year, or experience, there’s a place for you to contribute, connect, and grow. Leadership begins with showing up—and Community Council is your chance to do just that.
