The Advisor
The RHA advisor is a staff member within the Department of Residence Life who helps supervise and develop Community Councils, RHA, and various other initiatives.
The Advisor to the Residential Housing Association (RHA) at Texas A&M University serves as a cornerstone of student leadership development and residential engagement. This position provides strategic guidance, mentorship, and administrative support to the RHA Executive Board and affiliated councils. In some years, RHA may also be supported by a secondary advisor or a graduate advisor who contributes additional mentorship and operational support.
Advisors help student leaders navigate program planning, policy advocacy, budget management, and campus collaboration. They ensure that RHA initiatives reflect university values, follows the mission of RHA, and enhance the on-campus experience for over 12,000 residents.
Secondary or graduate advisors may assist with committee coordination, event logistics, and leadership development. Their presence strengthens continuity, expands student support, and enhances the overall effectiveness of RHA programming.
The Advisor also plays a key role in onboarding new executive members, facilitating leadership retreats, and connecting students with regional and national opportunities for growth and recognition.
